Elymus, wild rye, is a fairly large genus with around 150 species in the grass family, Poaceae, with a global distribution. A few species are cultivated as ornamental garden plants, but one species, couch grass (Elymus repens) is a weed no one wants in their garden.
Propagation:
Division in spring or fall.
Seed - sown in January - February
Seed lightly covered and stored at room temperature until germination. If the seed hasn't germinated in 4 weeks, it should be refrigerated for 4 weeks and then returned to room temperature until germination.
Medium sized ornamental grass with stiff, sharp, bluegreen foliage. Spreads by rhizomes, so best planted in a pot to keep it from spreading too much.
