Imperata, satintails, is a genus of around 10 species that are widely distributed throughout tropical and subtropical regions. They have silky haired inflorescences and at least one species is a very popular ornamental plant in gardens.
Propagation:
Division in spring or fall.
A popular ornamental grass in warmer climates. Needs more heat than the Icelandic climate has to offer. Could possibly grow in a greenhouse or conservatory. The leaf tips turn red in late summer and become dark burgundy in fall.
